Preferential Hyperacuity Perimetry (PHP)

Hyperacuity is the ability to detect misalignment in the visual field; it is much more sensitive than visual acuity, and can be measured using special computerized technology to assist in the detection of progression from dry to wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Studies have shown this technology to be more sensitive than the Amsler Grid (the familiar black and white grid given to AMD patients) in detecting this change.
The Colorado Center not only offers an office based version of this testing, but is also one of the first in the nation to offer a home PHP testing program through Notal Vision (the Foresee® PHP AMD monitoring program), which allows daily telemedical monitoring for AMD progression.
